Light:”I can use my remaining life span to trade for the eyes… Just by looking at the person's face, I will be able to know his name… Not bad.. What a convenient eyes…”
Light:”Ryuk! About this trade… It's not within my consideration.”
Light decided not to trade half of his life span for the eyes as he treasures his life more than the eyes.
Ryuk told Light that it is alright if he doesn't want to trade. Ryuk only wants him to know that such trade exists. If not, the owner will complain if anything is not known to them in advance. Light is angry with Ryuk for telling him about such deal so late.
While Light is talking to Ryuk, something strikes his mind & he tells Ryuk that he knows of a way to find out the name of the man who tails him. One of the rules in the death note is that after writing the cause of death, the owner will have 6 min 40 secs to write the details of death
3 criminals died in a way which has never happened before. The 1st criminal draws a star in a circle on the wall before he dies.
The 2nd criminal writes a letter saying he's afraid of KIRA before he dies.
The 3rd criminal trys to escape from prison & runs to an employee toilet before he dies of heart attack.
All these cases are sent to L & L is thinking that KIRA may be testing on something or is it really the work of the individuals.
Light tested the death note but only 3 of his guinea pigs died in the way he wrote. The other 3 criminals manage to escape from death as the cause of death is not possible to happen. But, so long the condition of death is physically possible for the person whose name is written, it'll happen.
L is thinking what is KIRA up to if he really tested on the criminals. FBL will most probably have noticed any suspicious character when KIRA actions.
L notices something unusual from the suicide letter that the 2nd criminal has left.
L:”This… This is…”

It's a saturday. Light has started his new plan. He made used of a runaway criminal & started to write something in the Death Note. After that he uses his mobile to call….
Yuri:”えつ！？ライト？おおはよう…”
(Eh!? Light? Mor.. Morning…”
死神はデスノートに人間の名前を書く事で自分の寿命を延ばせるか、人間は延ばせない。
The human who becomes the owner of the Death Note can, in exchange of half of his/her remaining life, get the eye balls of the god of death which will enable him/her to see a human's name and remaining life time when looking through them.
デスノートの所有者となつた人間は、自分の残された寿命の半分と交換に、人間の顔を見るとその人間の名前と寿命の見える死神の眼球をもらう事ができる。
A god of death cannot be killed even if stabbed in his heart with a knife or shot in the head with a gun. However, there are ways to kill a god of death, which are not generally known to the gods of death.
死神は心臓をナイフで刺しても頭を銃で撃ち抜いても殺す事はできない。しかし、一介の死神は知らない死神の殺し方は存在する。

Death Note Book 1 Page 5 眼球 (Eyeballs)
Ryuk:”Light, can I have a word with you? In fact, I do not dislike you & I think you are the perfect person to own the Death Note. But I do not help Light & L.”
Ryuk:” I feel very perturbed & therefore I have to tell you. These 2 days we have been followed. Although he can't see me but I always have this feeling that I'm being watched.”
Light:”That's troublesome! I'll think of a way to get rid of that guy, Ryuk.”
Light is thinking of how to find out the name of the man who followed him. While he is working out his plan, Ryuk told him the difference between the God of Death & the owner of Death Note.
Ryuk:”Do you know how the God of Death finds out the name of a person whom he wants to write his name?”
Light:”How would I know? You are very talkative today.”
The God of Death can take over the remaining life of the person he kills. Therefore, a God of Death will not die if he is being shot or stab because they are GOD too. But if a human write a name in the Death Note, his life span will not increase.
Ryuk:”Do you know how we get to know the person's name just by a look? That's because of our eyes…”
Ryuk:”Just by looking at that person we will be able to see his name & life span. That's why the
God of Death will not get troubled over not knowing the person's name… That's the difference between Light & me.”
Ryuk tells Light that they can make a deal to trade for the eyes but Light has to give up half of his remaining life to him.
Ryuk makes himself very clear that he will not help Light & L. Therefore, even if he knows the name of the person who followed Light, he will not tell him. This is also 1 of the rule in the World of Death God.
Ryuk:”Human can use his remaining life span to trade for the eyes.”
Light:”So long I have the eyes of the Death God, I will be able to see the name of any person… right…?”

HOW TO USE IT V
The person in possession of the Death Note is possessed by a god of death, its original owner, until they die.
デスノートを持っている限り、自分が死ぬまで元持ち主である死神が憑いてまわる。
If a person uses the note, a god of death usually appears in front of him/her within 39 days after he/she uses the note.
死神は通常、人間がノートを使った３９日以内に使った者の前に姿を現す。
Gods of death, the original owners of the Death Note, do not do, in principle, anything which will help or prevent the deaths in the note.
デスノートの元持ち主である死神は、そのノートでの死の手伝いや妨げになる行為は基本的にはしない。
A god of death has no obligation to completely explain how to use the note or rules which will apply to the human who owns it.
デスノートの使い方や、それを持つ人間に発生する掟を死神が全て説明する義務はない。

Ryuk:”Light, why do you come to such an isolated place?”
Light:”Once a person touches the Death Note, he/she will be able to see you, right? What a headache. If Sayu sees you, she will get a heart attack & frighten to death.”
Light is doing some experiment for future use while L is still cracking his head thinking about KIRA case.
Light & Ryuk go to buy some material to hide his Death Note as Light believes that L has begun to suspect his relationship with the police. Therefore, there's a need to hide it & make it impossible for the police to search it out.
Ryuk:”Why do you deliberately make L suspects the police? For L to suspect that KIRA is related to them, doesn't it make it more unfavourable to you?”
Light:”The answer to your question… is to trace L & get rid of him!”
Light:”It's impossible to find L just by hiding the Death Note. In the human world, very few people actually trust one another. Furthermore, will you trust someone who has never shown his face & you don't even know his real name?”
Light:”L will definitely investigate on the people connected to this case secretly & he will know my relationship with the police. By then, when the police knows about what he has done, they will not tolerate him anymore. They will then track down L & I… will destroy him…”
[Police Headquarter]
Many police tender their resignation. They fear of death as they know that KIRA has the power to kill just by knowing the looks & name. They think that KIRA will attempt to kill whoever wants to arrest him.
[Light's room]
Light has hidden his Death Note in the drawer.
Ryuk:”That's not Death Note, it's only a normal diary!”
Light:”Most people will be contented just to see a diary. The key is also put at a very obvious location but in fact the real key to the drawer is the lead of a ballpoint pen. Even it is dropped beside the desk, nobody will suspect its use.”
Light:”There's a little hole underneath the drawer. Noone will notice it if you don't look carefully. Insert the lead of the ballpoint pen to the hole…”
Ryuk:”In order to make a 2 layer drawer, that's why you went to HOMECENTRE to select the material. With the fake diary, the Death Note will not be discovered.”
Light:”Even if they realise that this is a 2 layer drawer, they won't be able to retrieve the Death Note because the lead of the ballpoint pen serves as an insulator. If there's no insulator to prevent the current from contacting, there'll be a fire breakout.”
Light:”To close the drawer, there's a rubber to act as an insulator once the lead us taken out so that the current will not be in contact. In another word, if this method is not used to open the drawer & wants to retrieve the Death Note by force, it will be burnt into ashes.” Ryuk:”From what I know most people who possess the Death Note, their greatest difficulty is to hide it. Light, you are the 1st who is able to overcome such difficulty.”
Ryuk:”Isn't it dangerous? What if you mixed up the order of opening the drawer? You will get burnt seriously."
Light:”Dangerous? Ryuk, I'm meeting with danger the moment i use this Death Note. But, with all the dangers around it makes me feel safe.”

How to use it III
If the time of death is written within 40 seconds after writing the cause of death as a heart attack, the time of death can be manipulated, and the time can go into effect within 40 seconds after writing the name.
死因に心臓麻痺と書いた後、４０秒以内に死亡時刻を書けば、心臓麻痺であっても死の時間を操れ、その時刻は名前を書いてからの４０秒以内でも可能である。
the human who touches the Death Note can recognize the image and voice of its original owner, god of death, even if the human is not the owner of the note.
デスノートに触った人間には、そのノートの所有者でなくとも、元持ち主の死神の姿や声が認知できる。

Death Note Page 3 家族 (Family)
Everyone has been talking about L & KIRA. News reports of L vs KIRA are everywhere.
Ryuk:”Light, you look really listless.”
Light:”I only wanted some rest. At the same time, keep watch of the police next move and I'm a bit tired.”
Light felt irritated with all the speculation and reports on L & KIRA. The reporters have twisted all the facts to make their newspaper sell. Light needs some space of his own & away from all these speculation. He needs to relax his mind.
Ryuk:”Relax… The police of all over the world has been mobilised, you still can be so relaxed… Incredible!”
Light is very confident that even the police is being mobilised, he will be able to escape.
At this moment, Light's sister Sayu is trying to barge into his room but Light has locked his door. Sayu wanted him to teach her homework. Light quickly keeps his Death Note in his drawer & opens the door for his sister.
Ryuk:”今机の中にあるデスノート触られたら触った人間には俺の姿が見える”
(Light… Be careful! If she touches the Death Note in your drawer, she will be able to see me.”
In Light's mind…(Such an important matter why didn't he mention about it until now... This God of Death.)
L in thoughtsWhy can't KIRA kill me at that moment? Is it because I'm not a criminal? Impossible. In that kind of situation, it's impossible that he didn't kill me… Or.. is it because he didn't see me before…”
[Police Headquarter]
The police are reporting on their investigation and findings on the KIRA case to the heads. At this moment, there isn't any concrete evidence as in how KIRA does his killings. During the meeting, L asked the police to check if those victims' photos have been publicised before.
In that case Yakin's 2nd team will check on this area. The rest of the team will carry on with your usual investigation. That's all for today. Please go back to have a nice rest.
Sayu:”Ah… It seems that dad is back. He's early today.”
Sayu dashes out to welcome her dad home. Light follows behind her.
Light:”Dad, welcome home”
“Ah… I'm back…”
The whole family sits down together to have dinner & chat. Light starts to ask his dad about the investigation on KIRA. His dad said that the police has suspected that KIRA is a student. After a while, Light had his fill so he wants to go back to his room.
Before locking himself in his room, he told his mum that he will clean his room himself in the future..
Ryuk:”It's amazing, the police not only know that KIRA is in Japan, they also found out that you are a student.”
Light:”Found out? I deliberately let them find out about this clue. It's because I want to show them the real power of the Death Note. I want to manipulate the cause & time of death. In a way, you will find it more enjoyable, Ryuk.”
3 days later
23 criminals have died of heart attack. 1 died after another in every 1 hour. “There will have some problem about the clue on KIRA is a student when this happened,” said 1 police officer
L:”No! What KIRA is telling us is not that he is not a student. KIRA is trying to tell us that he can manipulate the time of death… (It's obvious that his challenge is directed to me.)”
Ryuk:”Light, you actually did such thing?”
Light:”Haha! L must be getting impatient but I still have a problem I have to solve.”
Ryuk:”Problem?”
Light:”Once a person touch the Death Note, he will be able to see you right? Ryuk…”
Light:”The moment I heard about this, I have been carrying the Death Note with me all the time… I can't rest my mind without seeing it. In the past, I thought that even if it is being discovered by others, I can simply say that the purpose for the details in it is for recording KIRA case… but it's impossible to lie now. If it is not handled carefully… there's a possibility that KIRA… might kill his own family!”
